6 Vitamins to UNBLOCK your ARTERIES!

The idea that specific “vitamins can unblock arteries” is misleading.

Blocked arteries are usually caused by atherosclerosis (plaque buildup: cholesterol, fat, inflammation, and calcium). Once plaque has formed, no vitamin has been proven to dissolve or “unblock” it on its own.

That said, some vitamins and nutrients can support heart and artery health and may slow progression, but they are not a cure or a quick fix:

1) Vitamin D

Low levels are linked with higher cardiovascular risk, but supplementing only helps if you’re deficient.

2) Vitamin K2

May help regulate calcium placement in the body (keeping it out of arteries and in bones), but evidence is still emerging—not a treatment for blockage.

3) Vitamin C

Supports blood vessel health and acts as an antioxidant, but does not remove plaque.

4) Vitamin E

Antioxidant effects, but studies have not shown it reverses artery blockage and high doses may be harmful.

5) B-complex vitamins (B6, B12, folate)

Help reduce homocysteine levels (a risk marker for heart disease), but lowering it hasn’t clearly been shown to reverse plaques.

6) Omega-3 fatty acids (not a vitamin, but often included in these lists)

Can reduce triglycerides and inflammation and support heart health, but again—not a “unblocker.”

What actually helps with blocked arteries (evidence-based)

If the concern is real arterial narrowing, the proven approaches are:

  • Statins or other prescribed medications
  • Healthy diet (Mediterranean-style)
  • Regular exercise
  • Stopping smoking
  • Controlling blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol
  • In severe cases: angioplasty or bypass surgery

Bottom line

No vitamin “unblocks” arteries. Some nutrients support heart health, but plaque reversal requires medical treatment and lifestyle changes, not supplements alone.

If you want, I can explain what actually reduces plaque over time or what early symptoms of blocked arteries look like.
