That’s a classic viral claim, but it’s not true in the way it’s usually advertised.
No simple home mix reliably “burns weeds in 1 day and stops them forever.” What people are usually showing is a temporary effect.
What’s really happening
Most DIY “weed killers” (like vinegar, salt, dish soap, bleach, or oil mixes) can:
- burn or dry out the leaves quickly → so weeds look dead within 24 hours
- but often do not kill the roots
So:
- the plant looks gone on top
- then it regrows from the root system in days or weeks
Weeds are built for survival—many regrow even after harsh damage.
Why “never grow again” is misleading
To permanently stop weeds, you must destroy:
- roots (underground system)
- or prevent new seeds from germinating
Most DIY sprays only affect the surface leaves, not the root network.
What actually works long-term
If your goal is real control:
- Boiling water → good for cracks and pathways
- Manual removal with roots → best for small areas
- Mulch or ground cover → prevents regrowth by blocking sunlight
- Systemic herbicides → actually reach the roots (used carefully)
Important warning
Some viral “miracle” mixes (especially salt or bleach-based ones) can:
- sterilize soil
- damage nearby plants
- create long-term ground problems
So they don’t really “solve” weeds—they often just shift the problem or harm the soil.
If you want, tell me where your weeds are (driveway, garden, tiles, lawn), and I’ll give you the fastest method that actually works for that exact spot.
