As a BRAIN Doctor, I’m SHOCKED THIS Vitamin Raises Stroke Risk Overnight Senior Health

That headline is misleading. There is no evidence that a common vitamin “raises stroke risk overnight” in seniors.

The claim often refers to Vitamin E supplements because:

  • Some studies have found that high-dose vitamin E supplements (well above the recommended daily intake) may be associated with a small increase in the risk of hemorrhagic (bleeding) stroke.
  • This does not mean that normal dietary vitamin E or standard-dose supplements suddenly cause strokes.
  • Vitamin E can also increase the risk of bleeding, especially in people taking blood thinners.

Other vitamins are sometimes mentioned in sensational headlines, but the evidence does not support the idea that they suddenly raise stroke risk in healthy people when taken at recommended doses.

For older adults:

  • Take vitamins only if there is a deficiency or a healthcare professional recommends them.
  • Avoid taking high-dose supplements unless prescribed.
  • Tell your healthcare provider about all supplements, particularly if you take blood-thinning medications.

The biggest proven ways to reduce stroke risk are controlling high blood pressure, managing diabetes and cholesterol, not smoking, exercising regularly, and eating a balanced diet.

If you saw this headline in a specific video or article, tell me which vitamin it named, and I can explain what the research actually shows.
