Classic Baked Potato

Ingredients
- 1 large russet potato
- 1 teaspoon olive oil (optional)
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Scrub the potato clean and dry it thoroughly.
- Pierce the potato 5–6 times with a fork.
- Rub with olive oil and sprinkle with salt.
- Place directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 45–60 minutes, until the skin is crisp and a fork slides easily into the center.
- Cut open, fluff the inside with a fork, and add your favorite toppings.

Microwave Shortcut
- Pierce the potato with a fork.
- Microwave on high for 5 minutes.
- Turn it over and microwave 3–5 more minutes, until tender.
- For crispy skin, finish in a 425°F (220°C) oven for 10 minutes.
