Basic mashed potatoes recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 medium potatoes (peeled and chopped)
  • 2–4 tbsp butter
  • ½ cup milk (or cream for richer taste)
  • Salt to taste
  • Optional: black pepper, garlic, cheese

👨‍🍳 Method:

  1. Boil potatoes in salted water until soft (15–20 min)
  2. Drain well
  3. Mash while still hot
  4. Add butter and mix
  5. Slowly add warm milk until smooth
  6. Season and serve

💡 Tips for best texture

  • Use starchy potatoes (like Russet or Yukon Gold)
  • Don’t overmix (can make them gluey)
  • Warm milk helps keep them fluffy
