Eggshells are made mostly of calcium carbonate, the same basic mineral found in limestone and antacids.

🌿 What boiling eggshells can do

  • Kills bacteria (like Salmonella risk from raw shells)
  • Softens them so they can be crushed more easily
  • Makes them more suitable for garden compost or soil use

🌱 Real uses (with evidence or practicality)

  • Garden soil amendment: crushed shells may slowly add calcium to soil (very slow effect)
  • Compost additive: safe, but breaks down slowly
