THIS burns weeds in 1 day! They NEVER grow again

Claims like “This burns weeds in 1 day and they never grow again” are common in viral gardening posts, but they are usually exaggerated. Most weed-killing methods do not permanently prevent weeds from returning, because new weeds can grow from seeds already in the soil, and many perennial weeds can regrow from roots.

Some common approaches people use:

1. Vinegar-based weed sprays

  • Household vinegar (especially higher-strength horticultural vinegar) can burn the leaves of many weeds.
  • It works best on young, small weeds.
  • It often does not kill deep roots, so perennial weeds may return.
  • Strong vinegar can damage nearby plants and irritate skin/eyes.

2. Boiling water

  • Pouring boiling water on weeds can kill the plant tissue it contacts.
  • It is most useful for weeds growing in cracks, paths, and driveways.
  • It may need repeated treatments.

3. Mulch and ground cover

  • A thick layer of mulch can block sunlight and reduce future weed growth.
  • This is one of the better long-term approaches for garden beds.

4. Pulling weeds with the root

  • Removing the entire root system is often effective, especially when done before weeds flower and spread seeds.

If a weed keeps coming back, the solution is usually identifying the weed and targeting its growth habit, not just burning the leaves.

If you share the “recipe” from the post (for example vinegar, salt, dish soap, bleach, etc.), I can tell you whether it is effective and whether it could harm your soil or plants.
