That kind of post is classic viral clickbait. There is no single “recipe” you can put in your house that will permanently eliminate flies, mosquitoes, and cockroaches forever.
Different pests behave very differently, so one solution can’t realistically cover all of them.
🧪 What these “1st comment recipes” usually contain
They often mix things like:
- Vinegar
- Sugar
- Baking soda
- Dish soap
- Essential oils (peppermint, citronella, eucalyptus)
Some of these have limited effects:
- Sugar + soap mixtures can trap some flies
- Certain oils may temporarily repel mosquitoes
- Clean-smelling solutions may discourage insects briefly
But none of them provide permanent elimination.
🦟 Why pests keep coming back
Mosquitoes
- Breed in standing water
- Come from outside, not inside the house
Cockroaches
- Hide in cracks, drains, and walls
- Survive on tiny food scraps
- Extremely resilient
Flies
- Attracted to food waste and garbage
- Enter through open doors/windows
🧠 What actually works long-term
1. Mosquito control
- Remove standing water (pots, buckets, drains)
- Use window screens
- Improve ventilation
2. Cockroach control
- Seal cracks and gaps
- Keep kitchen dry and clean
- Use bait gels or traps (most effective)
3. Fly control
- Cover food and trash
- Clean surfaces regularly
- Use physical traps or screens
