All you need is a dishwasher tablet! The oven will be like new again

A dishwasher tablet is a popular cleaning hack for ovens, but it’s worth using caution. Dishwasher tablets are designed for dishwasher-safe items, not necessarily oven interiors, and they contain concentrated detergents that can irritate skin and may leave residues if not thoroughly removed.

If you want to try a safer version:

  1. Turn off the oven and let it cool completely.
  2. Remove racks and soak them separately in hot water with a suitable cleaner or dish soap.
  3. For the oven interior, use a cleaner made for ovens or a gentle paste of baking soda and water:
    • Apply to greasy areas.
    • Leave for several hours (or overnight for heavy buildup).
    • Wipe away with a damp cloth.
  4. Rinse surfaces well with clean water and dry before using the oven again.

Avoid:

  • Mixing dishwasher tablets with vinegar, bleach, or other cleaners.
  • Using harsh scrubbing on self-cleaning oven coatings.
  • Getting cleaner into heating elements, vents, or electrical parts.

For a lightly greasy oven, a gentle cleaning method can work well; for heavy baked-on grease, an oven-specific cleaner is usually more reliable.
