Crockpot Barbecue Ribs

Here’s a simple, tender, fall-off-the-bone Crockpot Barbecue Ribs recipe you can make at home.

Barbecue ribs (Barbecue ribs) turn out especially juicy in a slow cooker because the low, steady heat breaks down the meat slowly.

🍖 Crockpot Barbecue Ribs (Easy & Tender)

🧾 Ingredients

  • 1.5–2 kg pork ribs (baby back or spare ribs)
  • 1–1.5 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder (optional)
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (plus extra for serving)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar (optional, for deeper flavor)
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup water or broth
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar (optional, for tang)

🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare the ribs

Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs (this helps them become more tender). Pat dry.

2. Season well

Mix salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and chili powder. Rub evenly over the ribs.

3. Optional sear (for extra flavor)

Quickly brown ribs in a pan for 2–3 minutes per side. This step adds deeper barbecue flavor but is optional.

4. Load the crockpot

Place ribs inside the slow cooker, standing them up or curling them around the pot.

Pour in:

  • barbecue sauce
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • water or broth
  • apple cider vinegar (optional)

5. Slow cook

  • LOW: 7–8 hours
  • HIGH: 4–5 hours

Ribs should become very tender and easily pull apart.

6. Finish for sticky glaze (important step)

  • Remove ribs carefully
  • Brush with extra barbecue sauce
  • Place under broiler or grill for 3–5 minutes until caramelized
