1. Epley Maneuver (most common treatment)
This is the standard method used by doctors and physiotherapists.
It:
- Moves your head in a specific sequence
- Helps particles shift out of the balance-sensitive canal
Many people feel relief within 1–3 sessions.
⚠️ Best done after proper instruction, especially the first time.
🧍 2. Semont or Brandt-Daroff exercises
These are alternative repositioning exercises:
- Used for recurring cases
- Can be done at home after learning correctly
- Help the brain adapt and reduce dizziness over time
🚶 3. What helps recovery
- Move slowly when getting up
- Avoid sudden head movements for a few days
- Stay hydrated
- Sleep slightly elevated if symptoms are severe
❌ What does NOT work
- Ear drops or antibiotics
- “Detox” drinks or herbal remedies
- Ear cleaning or rinsing
- Supplements claiming to dissolve crystals
These do not affect inner ear particles.
🚨 When to see a doctor urgently
Not all dizziness is BPPV. Seek medical care if you have:
- Weakness, slurred speech, or numbness
- Severe headache
- Continuous dizziness not triggered by head movement
- Hearing loss or ringing in one ear
