How to remove the dark circle around the faucets

The dark ring around faucets is usually caused by hard-water mineral deposits, soap residue, mildew, or grime trapped around the faucet base. Here are some easy ways to remove it:

Method 1: White vinegar (for hard-water stains)

  1. Soak a cloth or paper towel in white vinegar.
  2. Wrap it around the dark area at the base of the faucet.
  3. Leave it for 15–30 minutes.
  4. Scrub gently with an old toothbrush.
  5. Rinse with water and dry with a microfiber cloth.

Method 2: Baking soda paste (for stubborn buildup)

  1. Mix baking soda with a little water to make a paste.
  2. Apply it around the faucet ring.
  3. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes.
  4. Scrub gently and rinse.

Method 3: For mold or black mildew

  • Use a bathroom cleaner designed for mold, or a diluted disinfecting solution suitable for your faucet material.
  • Avoid leaving harsh chemicals on metal finishes for too long.

Prevent the dark ring from returning

  • Wipe the faucet dry after use.
  • Clean around the faucet base weekly.
  • Fix small leaks, since constant moisture encourages staining and mildew.

Avoid: abrasive powders, rough scrubbers, or strong acids on delicate finishes (such as matte black, brushed brass, or special coatings), as they can damage the surface.

If you tell me whether your faucet is chrome, stainless steel, black matte, brass, or another finish, I can suggest the safest cleaner.
