Here’s a classic recipe for creamy Mashed potatoes:

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet)
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • ½–¾ cup milk or cream
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Optional:

  • Garlic
  • Sour cream
  • Cream cheese
  • Chives

Instructions

  1. Peel and cut potatoes into chunks.
  2. Boil in salted water for 15–20 minutes until fork-tender.
  3. Drain well.
  4. Mash with butter.
  5. Gradually add warm milk/cream until smooth.
  6. Season with salt and pepper.

Tips

  • Yukon Gold = creamier texture
  • Russet = fluffier texture
  • Warm the milk before adding for smoother potatoes
  • Don’t overmix or they can become gluey
