The little arrow next to the fuel gauge is a simple but very useful feature: it tells you which side of the car the fuel filler door is on.
- If the arrow points left, your fuel cap is on the left side of the vehicle.
- If it points right, your fuel cap is on the right side.
This is especially helpful when:
- You’re driving a rental car
- You’ve borrowed someone else’s vehicle
- You’ve just bought a new car and haven’t memorized the layout
Not every vehicle has this arrow, but many modern cars include it on the dashboard near the fuel pump symbol. It saves you from pulling into a gas station and parking on the wrong side of the pump.
