Slow Cooker 4-Ingredient Hobo Dinners are a simple “dump-and-cook” meal made with a few basic ingredients. A common version uses ground beef, potatoes, carrots, and seasoning.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (or sliced smoked sausage/chicken)
- 4–5 medium potatoes, chopped
- 3–4 carrots, sliced
- 1 packet onion soup mix (or your preferred seasoning blend)
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet (optional, but adds flavor), then drain excess fat.
- Add potatoes and carrots to the slow cooker.
- Place the meat on top and sprinkle with onion soup mix.
- Cover and cook:
- Low: 6–8 hours
- High: 3–4 hours
- Stir before serving and adjust seasoning if needed.
Optional additions: a little butter, garlic, black pepper, green beans, cheese, or a splash of broth can add more flavor.
