That headline is clickbait. There is no two-ingredient drink or recipe that has been proven to specifically “get rid of belly fat.”
Many viral posts promote combinations such as:
- Lemon and ginger
- Apple cider vinegar and honey
- Cinnamon and lemon
- Cucumber and mint
- Green tea and lemon
While some of these ingredients can be part of a healthy diet, none of them melts belly fat or targets fat loss around the abdomen.
What the evidence shows
Reducing belly fat comes from creating a sustained calorie deficit and supporting overall health through:
- Eating a balanced diet with plenty of vegetables, fruits, lean protein, whole grains, and healthy fats.
- Limiting sugary drinks and highly processed foods.
- Getting regular physical activity, including both aerobic exercise and strength training.
- Sleeping enough and managing stress.
Can any drink help?
Some beverages, such as unsweetened green tea or coffee, may have small effects on energy expenditure or appetite in some people, but these effects are modest and are not a substitute for healthy eating and exercise.
If a post claims that a simple recipe will “burn belly fat,” “melt fat,” or “target abdominal fat,” it’s almost certainly overstating the evidence.
If you share the actual two ingredients from the post, I can explain what research says about that specific recipe.
