How to remove the dark circle around the faucets

The dark ring around faucets is usually a mix of soap scum, limescale (hard water minerals), and sometimes mold. You can remove it pretty easily with common household cleaners.

1. Vinegar soak (best for limescale)

  • Soak a cloth or paper towel in white vinegar
  • Wrap it tightly around the faucet base
  • Leave it for 30–60 minutes
  • Scrub with an old toothbrush, then rinse

2. Baking soda paste (for stubborn stains)

  • Mix baking soda + a little water to make a thick paste
  • Apply around the dark ring
  • Let it sit 10–15 minutes
  • Scrub gently and rinse

3. Dish soap + warm water (light buildup)

  • Mix dish soap with warm water
  • Scrub with a sponge or toothbrush
  • Good for regular maintenance

4. For mold (if it looks black/green and smells musty)

  • Use diluted bleach (1 part bleach : 10 parts water) or hydrogen peroxide
  • Apply carefully with a cotton pad or brush
  • Let sit a few minutes, scrub, rinse well

Tips to prevent it coming back

  • Wipe faucet dry after use
  • Clean weekly with vinegar spray
  • Check for small leaks around the base (they cause constant buildup)

If you want, you can tell me what it looks like (brown, black, green, hard crust, etc.), and I can pinpoint the exact cause and best cleaner.
