What Is The Normal Blood Pressure For Each Age

There isn’t a perfectly different “normal blood pressure for each age” anymore in modern medicine. Instead, doctors use general healthy targets, because high blood pressure is harmful at any age.

Still, here are practical age-based ranges used as guidance:

❤️ Normal Blood Pressure by Age (General Guide)

👶 Children (1–12 years)

  • Around 90/60 to 110/70 mmHg
  • Depends on height and age

🧑 Teenagers (13–18 years)

  • Around 100/60 to 120/80 mmHg
  • Above 120/80 may need monitoring

🧑‍🦱 Adults (18–59 years)

  • Normal: below 120/80 mmHg
  • Elevated: 120–129 / <80
  • High (hypertension): 130/80 or higher

👴 Older adults (60+ years)

  • Often slightly higher is seen, but still:
    • Ideal target: below 130/80 mmHg
    • Many doctors still aim for <130/80 if tolerated

⚠️ Dangerous levels (any age)

  • Low BP: below 90/60 (if symptoms like dizziness occur)
  • High BP: 140/90 or higher (needs medical attention)
  • Emergency: 180/120 or higher

🧠 Important truth

Modern guidelines say:
👉 “Normal blood pressure does NOT increase with age as a healthy goal.”

Even in older adults, lower controlled BP is usually better for:

  • Heart
  • Brain (stroke prevention)
  • Kidneys

❤️ Simple summary

  • Ideal for most people: around 120/80 mmHg
  • Lower is generally better if you feel fine
  • Consistently high = risk for heart, stroke, kidney disease
