A simple way to clean a very dirty mop and freshen it up is:
š§¹ Deep-Clean Mop Method
- Fill a bucket with hot water.
- Add:
- 1 cup of white vinegar, and
- 1ā2 tablespoons of dish soap.
- Soak the mop head for 30ā60 minutes.
- Agitate or scrub the fibers to loosen trapped dirt.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
- Wring it out and let it air-dry completely.
For Extra Stains or Odors
- If the mop head is white or bleach-safe, soak it for 5ā10 minutes in a diluted bleach solution (follow the bleach label’s directions), then rinse very well.
- Do not mix bleach with vinegar or other cleaners.
Machine-Washable Mop Heads
Many microfiber and removable mop heads can be washed in a washing machine using hot water and a mild detergent. Avoid fabric softener, as it can reduce absorbency.
Keep in mind that if the fibers are worn out, frayed, or permanently discolored, cleaning may improve appearance and odor but won’t restore the mop to a truly “new” condition.
