Brittle or fragile nails: what your body is trying to tell you

Brittle or fragile nails can have many causes. While they’re often related to everyday factors such as frequent hand washing or exposure to chemicals, they can sometimes signal an underlying health issue.

1. Repeated exposure to water and chemicals

Frequent hand washing, dishwashing, cleaning products, and nail polish removers can dry out nails and make them split or crack.
