That phrase—“If you have this plant in your house, then you have… See more”—is another common clickbait headline. Without seeing which plant it’s referring to, there’s no way to know what the hidden claim is.

These posts often end with claims such as:

  • “…good luck.”
  • “…clean air.”
  • “…wealth coming your way.”
  • “…a natural mosquito repellent.”
  • “…one of the healthiest homes.”

Many of these claims are exaggerated or unsupported. While some houseplants can have benefits (such as improving mood or, under controlled conditions, removing small amounts of indoor air pollutants), owning a particular plant does not reliably mean you have good luck, wealth, or a healthier home.
