That claim is not supported by good medical evidence.
“Put 2 drops in your ear and you will hear like before. Recover your hearing.” is a common advertising claim used to promote ear drops, but hearing loss has many causes, and no ear drop can reliably restore hearing in most cases.
Ear drops may help only in specific situations, such as:
- Softening or removing earwax (using appropriate earwax-removal drops).
- Treating certain outer ear infections when prescribed.
- Relieving inflammation in some ear conditions.
They do not reverse common causes of hearing loss such as:
- Age-related hearing loss.
- Noise-induced hearing loss.
- Damage to the inner ear or hearing nerve.
- Many forms of permanent sensorineural hearing loss.
If you notice a sudden decrease in hearing—especially in one ear—it’s important to seek medical care as soon as possible, ideally within 24–72 hours, because some causes require urgent treatment and early treatment can improve the chance of recovery.
If your hearing has gradually worsened, a healthcare professional can determine whether it’s due to something treatable (like earwax or an infection) or whether you might benefit from hearing aids or other treatments.
If you have a specific product or advertisement in mind, share its name or a photo of the label, and I can help assess whether its claims are supported by evidence.
