A Month Before a Stroke, Your Body May Warn You: 10 Signs Not to Ignore

A stroke often occurs suddenly, but some people experience warning signs before a stroke, especially from a transient ischemic attack (TIA), sometimes called a “mini-stroke.” A TIA happens when blood flow to part of the brain is temporarily blocked and can be a warning that a more serious stroke may occur.

There is no guaranteed one-month warning period—some strokes happen without any warning—but recognizing symptoms early can save lives.

10 Warning Signs to Take Seriously

8. Trouble swallowing

Temporary symptoms that resolve after a few minutes can still be serious. A TIA is a medical warning and requires evaluation
