The main idea
The goal is not to “dissolve” crystals, but to reposition them back where they belong using specific head movements.
🌀 1. The Epley Maneuver (most effective)
This is the standard treatment for many cases of BPPV.
It involves a sequence of head and body positions that:
- Move the “crystals” out of the wrong canal
- Return them to a place where they don’t cause symptoms
Many people feel improvement after 1–3 sessions.
⚠️ Best done after a doctor confirms which ear is affected.
🌀 2. Brandt–Daroff exercises (at-home option)
These are repeated movements that:
- Help your brain adapt
- Reduce dizziness over time
- Are useful if symptoms are mild or recurring
🧍♂️ 3. Lifestyle tips during recovery
- Move slowly when getting up or turning in bed
- Avoid sudden head movements
- Sleep slightly elevated if symptoms are strong
- Stay hydrated
⚠️ When NOT to self-treat
Get medical help if vertigo includes:
- Severe headache
- Weakness, slurred speech, or vision changes
- Continuous dizziness (not position-triggered)
- Hearing loss or ringing in one ear
These may indicate other conditions, not BPPV.
🧠 Important reality check
There are no “drops,” teas, or supplements that remove ear crystals. The only effective method is physical repositioning maneuvers.
