That headline is a common “garden hack” style claim, but it’s misleading as written.
There is no single ingredient that will reliably make a peace lily bloom continuously all year. Peace lily flowering depends on several factors:
- Bright, indirect light (the biggest factor)
- Consistent watering (keep the soil lightly moist, not soggy)
- Moderate humidity
- Temperatures around 18–27°C (65–80°F)
- Occasional balanced fertilizer during the growing season
Many videos claiming “just 1 glass” recommend things like:
- Rice water
- Banana peel water
- Onion water
- Yeast solution
- Coffee water
These may add small amounts of nutrients or organic matter, but there’s little scientific evidence that any of them will cause abundant year-round flowering, and some can even encourage mold, pests, or unpleasant odors if used frequently.
If your goal is more blooms, a better approach is:
- Place the plant in brighter indirect light.
- Feed with a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer at half strength every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer.
- Keep the plant healthy and avoid overwatering.
- Repot only when it becomes root-bound.
These practices are much more likely to increase flowering than any “one-glass miracle” solution.
