Very dirty mop, do not buy it again: a drop of this ingredient and it will be as good as new again

If you’re referring to the viral tip “A very dirty mop can be like new again with just a drop of this ingredient,” the ingredient is often claimed to be things like white vinegar, baking soda, or dish soap. These can help clean and deodorize a mop, but there is no single drop that can restore a heavily worn-out mop.

How to Deep Clean a Dirty Mop

You’ll need:

  • Warm water
  • Dish soap
  • White vinegar (optional)
  • Baking soda (optional)

Steps:

  1. Rinse the mop head
    • Remove loose dirt and debris with warm water.
  2. Soak it
    • Fill a bucket with warm water.
    • Add a small amount of dish soap and about ½ cup of white vinegar.
    • Let the mop head soak for 15–30 minutes.
  3. Scrub if needed
    • Sprinkle a little baking soda on stubborn stains and gently rub.
  4. Rinse thoroughly
    • Rinse until the water runs clear.
  5. Dry completely
    • Hang the mop in a well-ventilated place so it dries fully and doesn’t develop odors or bacteria.

Helpful habits

  • Rinse the mop after every use.
  • Do not leave a wet mop sitting in a bucket.
  • Replace mop heads that are worn, frayed, or permanently stained.

Safety note: Never mix vinegar with bleach or bleach-based cleaners, as this can create dangerous fumes.
