All you need is a dishwasher tablet! The oven will be like new again

Using a dishwasher tablet to clean an oven is a popular home-cleaning trick, but it should be done carefully. Dishwasher tablets contain strong cleaning agents designed for dishwashers, not necessarily for direct use on every oven surface.

The dishwasher tablet oven-cleaning trick (with caution)

You’ll need:

  • 1 dishwasher tablet
  • Warm water
  • Rubber gloves
  • A sponge or cloth

Method:

  1. Remove oven racks and loose crumbs.
  2. Put on gloves to protect your skin.
  3. Place the dishwasher tablet in a bowl of warm water and let it soften.
  4. Use the solution to wipe greasy areas of the oven.
  5. Leave it for a short time, then wipe away residue with clean water.
  6. Dry the surface.

Important safety tips

  • Do not use dishwasher tablets on self-cleaning oven liners unless the manufacturer allows it.
  • Avoid getting the solution on heating elements, fans, electrical parts, or oven seals.
  • Rinse thoroughly—leftover detergent residue can create unpleasant odors when heated.
  • Never mix it with bleach, ammonia, or other cleaners.

For heavy baked-on grease, a paste of baking soda and water left to sit for several hours is often a gentler option.

If you tell me whether your oven is electric, gas, or self-cleaning, I can suggest the safest cleaning method.
